Global best practice forum

World Bank

The Understanding Risk Forum is a biannual, five-day conference convened by the World Bank Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), designed to showcase best practices and the latest technical advances in disaster. Working in partnership with University College London’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy division, TFI organised the third such forum, bringing together over 800 international participants in a complex series of plenary sessions, workshops, trade exhibitions and networking events held at ExCeL London and on campus at UCL. Placed under the constraints of a donor funded event, and in under ten weeks, TFI created a highly memorable delegate experience, bringing many creative concepts to life, including thrilling ‘5 by 15’ plenary sessions, an ‘ignite’ session, and unforgettable break periods with diverse variety performances, funky live music and even stilt walkers.
